Al-Nasr on the verge of breaking a 7-year spell; Will Ronaldo end the nightmare of consecutive failures?
Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portuguese superstar and captain of Al-Nasr Saudi Arabia, will face Zamak tomorrow in the last and most decisive match of the season to forget the disappointments caused by four consecutive failures in the past finals. Victory in this match will not only mark Al-Alam's first championship in the Saudi Roshan League after 7 years, but will also end Ronaldo's 6-year spell of winning club trophies.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Cristiano Ronaldo, the world football legend and Al-Nasr captain, will lead his team in a home match against Zamak tomorrow (Thursday, May 21) at Al-Awl Park Stadium in Riyadh, as part of the 34th and final week of the Saudi Roshan League. The championship equations for the yellow-clad team in Riyadh are very simple; Ronaldo's team only needs to win this match to secure the title and lift the trophy, and if they win three points, the result of the simultaneous match between Al-Hilal and Al-Fayha will have no bearing on their fate.

However, the heavy shadow of past dramatic defeats has created many fears and hopes among Al-Nasr fans. Ronaldo has come close to lifting the trophy four times during his time in Saudi Arabia, but each time he has fallen short at the last moment:

In May 2024, Al-Nasr faced their long-time rivals, Al-Hilal, in the final of this cup. After a 1-1 draw in regular time, Al-Hilal was reduced to nine men in extra time by sending off two of its key defenders (Ali Al-Balihi and Kalidou Koulibaly). In the penalty shootout and in the sixth, when Al-Hilal missed a penalty, Al-Nasr needed only one goal to become the champion; but Ali Al-Hassan wasted this golden opportunity, allowing Al-Hilal's "leader" to steal the trophy.

Three months after their first defeat, the two teams faced each other again in the Super Cup final. Al-Nasr went into the dressing room victorious in the first half with Ronaldo scoring, but in the second half, the Al-Hilal storm began and inflicted a heavy defeat on Ronaldo and his team by scoring 4 consecutive goals.

Last August, Al-Nasr faced Al-Ahly in the Super Cup final. Ronaldo's team was leading 2-1 until the 82nd minute with a goal from Marcelo Brozovic, but a fatal mistake by Al-Nasr's Brazilian goalkeeper Bento in the 89th minute tied the game, and Al-Ahly eventually won the cup on penalties.

Ronaldo's biggest and most recent injury occurred last Saturday in the final of the AFC Champions League 2; Where Al-Nasr had reached the continental final after 28 years and was considered the main chance to win, but was surprised by the Japanese team "Gamba Osaka" and lost another valuable trophy by accepting a 1-0 defeat.

Now, victory against Zamak is the only way for Ronaldo to escape from the fifth consecutive defeat in Saudi Arabia and record a historic honor for the Al-Nasr club.
