Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov announced in an interview with the TASS news agency that Iran's new leadership, like its predecessors, adheres to the commitment not to possess nuclear weapons.
He said in this regard: "No one argues that the Islamic Republic of Iran should have nuclear weapons. This has always been accepted by the previous and current leaders of the Islamic Republic."
Referring to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), the senior Russian diplomat noted that the treaty "specifies all relevant obligations that the Iranian side has never rejected."
Ryabkov continued: “At the same time, the NPT grants Iran the right to use peaceful nuclear energy under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency, without any restrictions, including uranium enrichment.”
The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister added firmly: “This right is inalienable and cannot be subject to any foreign or opportunistic interpretation. Only the Iranian people will determine how to properly exercise this right, based on their national interests.”
Ryabkov’s statements came at a time when the Donald Trump administration, with the participation of the Zionist regime, invaded the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran under the pretext of preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and continues to emphasize that it seeks to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
