Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): US President Donald Trump claimed in an interview with Fox News that Washington is close to reaching a "very good deal" with Iran.
At the same time, he threatened as always, claiming: "If this deal is not fair, the US will once again resort to the "War Department" (Pentagon) to consider other options."
Trump also said that he prefers the diplomatic option and that signing the agreement could lead to the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz for international shipping.
He claimed: “The main guarantee of the United States in any agreement is to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon” and “the Iranian side has previously agreed not to develop or purchase nuclear weapons.”
Trump then acknowledged that “the Iranians are very professional negotiators” and said: The process of talks takes time, but Washington is in no hurry to reach a conclusion.
He also insisted for the hundredth time on “Iran’s military defeat” and, as in previous repeated statements, spoke of “regime change in Iran.”
Trump continued by expressing his wishes, saying: The Strait of Hormuz should be opened immediately and without any passage costs. He added: “Our forces will leave the region as soon as the Strait of Hormuz is opened and the investigation into the Iranian nuclear case is completed.”
Trump also, as usual, attacked the American media for reporting part of the reality of the war and for saying that America had lost the war against Iran, saying: "We don't have a fair media. All they can do is lie."
