Iraqi Prime Minister: Popular Mobilization Forces are a key factor in achieving security and stability

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: These statements come at a time when, after Asaib Ahl al-Haq and Saraya al-Salam, the Imam Ali Brigades faction announced on Tuesday its decision to sever ties with the Popular Mobilization Forces and agree to hand over its weapons. The faction announced in a statement that the leadership of the Imam Ali Brigades, due to national responsibility, to preserve the achievements of victory, strengthen national unity, and based on its religious duty, has decided to sever ties with the Popular Mobilization Forces and begin the process of consolidating weapons under the control of the government, in accordance with the national will and the decision of its brothers within the framework of coordination.

Earlier on Tuesday, Asaib Ahl al-Haq announced its severance of ties with the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), surrendered its weapons, and pledged allegiance to the Commander-in-Chief of the Iraqi Armed Forces. The leadership of Asaib Ahl al-Haq, led by Qais al-Khazali, announced in a press statement that it had decided to sever ties with the PMF, place its weapons under government control, and pledge allegiance to the Commander-in-Chief of the Iraqi Armed Forces. 

Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi also praised the announcement of the severance of ties between Asaib Ahl al-Haq and the Imam Ali Brigades on Tuesday with the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), and called on all political forces to prioritize national interests.

The prime minister praised Qais al-Khazali and the Asaib Ahl al-Haq movement for announcing the start of the process of their groups’ separation from the PMF, according to the Iraqi News Agency.
