Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Simultaneously with the arrival of Eid al-Ghadir al-Khum, a ceremony was held by the office of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Mohsen Hojjat (may Allah be pleased with him) at the Chandawal Public Mosque in Kabul. The speakers at the ceremony considered Ghadir as the axis of proving the Shiite school of thought and the continuity of the prophetic mission, and emphasized the need to explain this historical event and effectively use cyberspace to promote Ghadir culture.
Religious scholar and witness of Islam and Muslims, Sayyid Kazim Hojjat, stated at the ceremony that the events of Ghadir, Muharram, Fatimiyyah, Nim-e-Shaban, and similar occasions are not only of historical importance, but also play a fundamental role in proving the Shiite religion and explaining the beliefs of the Shiites.
He added: If the Holy Prophet (PBUH) had not announced the event of Ghadir, his mission would have remained incomplete and all his efforts would have been fruitless. According to him, the selection of the Hajj season and the presence of more than 120,000 pilgrims at Ghadir Khum are themselves signs of the special importance of this divine message.
Hojjat expressed regret over the lack of attention paid to studying the Ghadir sermon and emphasized that this event should be promoted and explained until the Day of Judgment. He noted that the original incident of Ghadir is accepted by both Shiites and Sunnis in terms of its documentary evidence, and the differences are mainly over the interpretation of the word "mawla".
The religious scholar clarified: Considering the evidence in the Ghadir sermon and the confession of the Prophet (PBUH) from the people, the meaning of “master” in the phrase “If you were my master, then Ali is my master” is not a friend, but a leader, a guide, and a successor. He added that other meanings such as slave or freedman are also not compatible with the atmosphere of the sermon and its content.
He also said that the love and friendship of the Commander of the Faithful, Hazrat Ali (PBUH), had been expressed by the Prophet (PBUH) on numerous occasions before the incident of Ghadir; therefore, Ghadir cannot be interpreted simply as an advice to love and friendship.
Referring to the widespread allegiance of Muslims to Hazrat Ali (PBUH) in Ghadir, Hujjat stated: The allegiance is related to guardianship, leadership, and obedience, not just friendship; therefore, women also pledged allegiance to Hazrat Ali (PBUH) in this incident.
In another part of his speech, he considered the correct explanation of the message of Ghadir to be a public responsibility and added: "It is not only scholars, saints and prophets who are responsible for spreading the religion, but all members of society are responsible for conveying the message of Ghadir." He emphasized the need for the active and influential presence of believers in cyberspace and said that the media and social media capacities should be put at the service of promoting the teachings of the Ahlul Bayt (AS) more than ever before.
Continuing the ceremony, Hojjat al-Islam wal-Muslimeen Bahjat, another religious scholar, also referred to the position of the Ghadir event and said: "The meaning of the word "Mawla" in Ghadir is not a friend, but rather the leader, guide, successor and successor of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
He added that the Prophet of Islam (PBUH) was assigned to convey a very important message in Ghadir; a message that God Almighty had placed special emphasis on conveying and warned against not conveying.
Emphasizing the necessity of publicizing the culture of Ghadir, Hojjat-ul-Islam Wal-Muslimin Bahjat stated: "All members of society at every level and position have the duty to explain and propagate the message of Ghadir." According to him, this responsibility must be considered in the cultural, religious, scientific, economic, and social fields so that the teachings of Ghadir are widely institutionalized in society.
