Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Work on the first phase of the large-scale CASA-1000 power transmission project resumed in December 2024. This phase extends 197 kilometers from Bandar Sher Khan to Deh Salah district and includes 564 power transmission towers.
The second phase of the project, with a length of 196.4 kilometers, includes 587 power transmission towers and covers Baghlan, Panjshir and Kapisa provinces.
The third phase of the project, which passes through the four provinces of Kapisa, Kabul, Laghman and Nangarhar, will eventually reach the hypothetical Durand Line in Torkham and will be 188.4 km long and include 562 power transmission towers.
This strategic regional project, which will transmit Central Asian electricity to South Asia through Afghanistan, is recognized as one of the largest and most vital projects in which the common and strategic interests of various countries lie.
The revenue of the CASA-1000 regional connectivity project is estimated to be about $60 million annually for Afghanistan and will play a key role in the economic stability of the countries in the region.
