Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: According to Mohammad Ashraf Haqshenas, spokesman for the Ministry of Public Works, the meeting was held between a high-ranking delegation from the Afghan Ministry of Public Works and Iranian officials. During the talks, the two sides discussed technical specifications, construction standards, implementation stages, financing structure, and how companies from the two countries will participate in the 657-kilometer Herat-Mazar-e-Sharif railway project.
According to the report, the two sides also agreed to continue technical coordination and hold future specialized meetings to accelerate the implementation of the project.
Officials from both countries have considered this railway as one of the most important economic corridors in the region, which can connect Afghanistan to Turkey through Iran and from there to Central Asian countries and China. They believe that this project will play an important role in developing regional transit, facilitating trade and increasing economic connectivity between the countries of the region.
Experts believe that the completion of this railway route can create a significant capacity to increase Afghanistan’s transit revenues and pave the way for the growth of economic, trade and investment activities in the country.
