Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): US Vice President James David Vance claimed this morning (Tuesday): "The developments of recent months have created the space to reach a long-term agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue."
In an interview with Fox News, Vance said: "[Donald] Trump [US President] believes that a long-term agreement on Iran's nuclear program is possible, and he is right."
He continued: "The most important thing in any agreement with Iran is not what is written on paper, but rather the confirmation of Tehran's commitment to implement it. If an agreement is reached, we will continue to verify Iran's adherence to its commitments over the long term."
Claiming that one of the most important shortcomings of the previous nuclear agreement was the lack of an inspection system to ensure that nuclear weapons were not produced, the American official stated: “If an agreement is reached and its implementation is confirmed, it will be a great achievement for the American people.”
Stating that the United States will not enter into a long-term war with Iran, Vance added: “Iran does not want the war to continue because it is not in its interest and it puts serious issues on the negotiating table.”
Before him, Trump had claimed in an interview with CNN that the United States is currently negotiating with Iran.
