The first phase of the Qush Tipe Canal will be handed over to the Ministry of Agriculture within the next six months
The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock has announced that the first phase of the national project of the Qush Tipe Canal will be handed over to the responsible institutions by the National Development Company within the next six months.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: According to the information of the ministry, a joint meeting was held in Kabul between officials of the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, the Department of Affairs and the National Development Company in order to coordinate the handover of the first phase of the project.

In this meeting, the parties discussed the process of finalizing the project handover stages and decided to appoint a joint committee of relevant institutions to review and resolve the remaining shortcomings and problems. The aim of this measure is to complete the technical and administrative stages before the official handover of the first phase of the project.

The Qush Tipe Canal is one of the largest infrastructure and agricultural projects in Afghanistan, with a length of 285 kilometers. The canal transfers water from the Amu Darya River from Kaldar District of Balkh Province to Andkhoy District of Faryab Province.

According to officials, the main goal of this project is to irrigate about 550,000 hectares of agricultural land, which can be added to the country's agricultural production cycle by fully utilizing the canal.

Agriculture experts believe that the completion of the Qush Tipe Canal can bring about a significant transformation in the country's agricultural sector. Increasing irrigated land, increasing agricultural production, reducing dependence on food imports, creating job opportunities, and economic development in the north of the country are among the most important expected outcomes of this project.
