Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: According to the US Army Central Command, Washington is investigating the cause of the Apache helicopter crash.
This morning, the New York Times reported that a US Army Apache helicopter crashed near the Strait of Hormuz and said that both crew members were safely evacuated to a safe location.
The American media outlet reported that an investigation is underway, without mentioning the cause of the AH-64 Apache helicopter crash.
Now, CENTCOM has issued a statement explaining the matter.
According to the US Army Central Command statement, two crew members of an AH-64 Apache helicopter were rescued by American forces after their helicopter crashed near the coast of Oman while patrolling regional waters.
CENTCOM said: “The soldiers were safely rescued within approximately two hours and are in stable condition. The cause of the incident is under investigation.”
The 82nd Airborne Division, supported by Air Force and Marine units, including the 59th Task Force of the U.S. Fifth Fleet, was involved in the rescue operation, according to U.S. Central Command.
