Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: A grand conference honoring the late scholarly, religious and global figure Grand Ayatollah Sheikh Mohammad Ishaq Fayyaz (may Allah have mercy on him) was held today (Saturday) at the Imam Jafar Sadiq (AS) Grand Complex in western Kabul by the representative of the Grand Ayatollah Sheikh Mohammad Yaqubi (may Allah have mercy on him) in Afghanistan, with the broad presence of scholars, cultural, political and social figures, including Hojjat-ul-Islam Wal-Muslimeen Sayyed Isa Hosseini Mazari, Head of the Center for Social and Cultural Activities of Tebyan, and Afghan Voice News Agency (AVA).
Ayatollah Yaqubi's message; Celebrating the scholarly and moral figure of Ayatollah Fayyaz (may Allah have mercy on him)
Sheikh Mohammad Asif Motahari, member of the Executive Council of Ayatollah Yaqubi's office, read out the message of this eminent authority. The message states that Ayatollah Fayyaz (may Allah have mercy on him) had a fatherly attitude towards his students and was a humble and close personality. Whenever he saw a person with academic talent and excellence, he encouraged him and did not hesitate to appreciate and praise him. The message also emphasized that the works and writings of Ayatollah Fayyaz (may Allah have mercy on him) have deep scientific implications.
Ayatollah Yaqubi (may Allah have mercy on him) announced in his message that in mourning for this esteemed authority, lessons outside the seminary will be closed.
Alemi Balkhi: Ayatollah Fayyaz (may Allah have mercy on him) was a personality beyond the Najaf seminary
On the other hand, Hojjatoleslam Wal-Muslimeen Sayyid Hussain Alemi Balkhi, head of the Secretariat of the Council of Shia Ulemas of Afghanistan, also said in a speech that Ayatollah Fayyaz (may Allah have mercy on him) paved the way for his globalization by migrating from his birthplace to the cities of Mashhad, Qom and other academic centers. According to him, Ayatollah Fayyaz's (may Allah have mercy on him) innovations in jurisprudence and principles caused his fame to go beyond the Najaf seminary and to be considered as an expert figure in academic, scientific and cultural circles.
He added that one of the important international Islamic centers based in Jordan had introduced Ayatollah Fayyad (RA) as a leading scholarly figure in the Islamic world in 1400.
According to him, due to the prominent position of Ayatollah Fayyad (RA), three days of public mourning were declared in Iraq and numerous messages of condolence were issued by the President of Iran, Grand Ayatollah Sistani and various religious centers, all of which reflected the global position of this religious authority.
Emphasis on national solidarity and confronting religious division
Furthermore, Hojjatoleslam Walmuslimin Seyyed Mohammad Hussein Rezvani Bamiyani, head of the Cultural Commission of the Council of Shiite Scholars, also said at the ceremony that the offices of the eminent authorities play a fundamental role in helping the people and that the government should also play a greater role in this area.
He added that the office of Ayatollah Fayyad (RA) has played an important role in helping the needy and establishing health centers. Bamiyani stated that the enemies use ethnicism and religious differences as tools against the Islamic community.
He also said that religious differences are one of the main factors weakening the Islamic world and warned that hundreds of fake pages are operating in cyberspace with the aim of creating discord between Shiites and Sunnis.
He emphasized that Afghanistan needs a peaceful life and solidarity, and that ethnic and racial discrimination can complicate the situation.
Sunni scholar: The Islamic Ummah should not be a victim of religious differences
Sayyid Abdul Hadi Hedayat, a university professor and Sunni scholar, also said in a speech that the Islamic Ummah is a single Ummah and that enemies should not be given the opportunity to harm Muslims by exploiting Shiite and Sunni differences.
He added that no individual praying can be declared takfir and stated that Imam Abu Hanifa introduced Imam Jafar Sadiq (AS) as one of the most prominent Islamic scholars, which shows his influence on the Ahlul Bayt (AS).
Hedayat emphasized that Ayatollah Fayyaz (RA) was one of the thinkers who considered unity a vital necessity to confront the challenges of the Islamic world and always avoided any religious and ethnic discrimination.
He added that Ayatollah Fayyaz (RA) considered extremism a great calamity for the Islamic society and always emphasized avoiding extremism. According to him, Ayatollah Fayyaz (RA)’s authority was cross-sectarian and cross-denominational, and Sunni centers have also appreciated his role in strengthening Islamic unity.
Ayatollah Fayyaz’s role in the Najaf Seminary and promoting moderation
Professor Qasem Nateqi, a member of the National Council of Shiite Scholars, said at the conference that Ayatollah Fayyaz’s role in policymaking at the Najaf Ashraf Seminary was fundamental and decisive. According to him, moderation and moderation were other characteristics that placed Ayatollah Fayyaz (RA) in the position of leader of the Najaf Seminary.
Nateqi also said that unfortunately, some people in cyberspace are trying to limit Ayatollah Fayyaz (RA) to a specific tribe, region or movement, while he was beloved by all nations and even the United Nations has appreciated his scientific services.
He added that helping those affected by natural disasters, supporting orphans and unaccompanied women, providing drinking water, developing modern education alongside religious education, and distributing winter aid have been among the charitable and social activities of Ayatollah Fayyaz's office in Afghanistan for many years.
Human dignity and innovation in Islamic economics are among the axes of Ayatollah Fayyaz's (RA) thought.
Hojatoleslam Walmuslim Sayyed Hassan Salehi, executive officer of the Supervisory Council for the country's seminaries, also said in his speech that human dignity has a high place in Ayatollah Fayyaz's (RA) thought.
He added that from Ayatollah Fayyaz's (RA) perspective, the criterion for human superiority is not ethnicity or region, but rather competence and ability.
Salehi also mentioned innovation in banking and Islamic economics as other important areas of Ayatollah Fayyaz's (may Allah have mercy on him) thought, and said that this area is considered one of the most important works and scientific achievements of this religious authority.
