Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Mullah Mohammad Isa Sani, Minister of Public Works, inspected the implementation process of important infrastructure projects, including the basic reconstruction of the Kandahar-Helmand highway and the construction of the Gereshk-Musa Qala road.
Mohammad Ashraf Haqshenas, spokesman for the Ministry of Public Works, said that during this visit, which was accompanied by a number of heads and technical engineers, Mullah Sani closely reviewed the progress of the works and directed the engineers, project officials, technical teams and supervisors to complete all works in accordance with engineering standards and within the specified time.
According to him, the reconstruction and construction project of the 85-kilometer Kandahar-Helmand highway began from the Bagh-e-Pul area of Kandahar and extends to the Helmand dual carriageway area.
This project is being implemented in two parts, the first part of which is 40 kilometers long and the second part is 45 kilometers long.
According to the information provided, 75 percent of the work of the first part and 69 percent of the work of the second part of this project have been completed so far, and the remaining work is continuing at a rapid pace.
Haghshenas also stated that the Gereshk-Musa Qala road project has a total length of 46.5 kilometers, including 20 kilometers in the first lot and 26.5 kilometers in the second lot.
According to him, the construction of this route is currently continuing with varying progress, and the construction of a large number of culverts along this highway is also part of the project’s implementation plan.
The completion of these projects will play an important role in facilitating the movement of citizens, growing economic activities, developing trade, and strengthening communications between the southern and southwestern provinces of the country.
