Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The Swiss Foreign Ministry announced today that it has been in close contact with the United States, Iran, Pakistan and Qatar over the past few days to facilitate the entry of delegations to Switzerland for a possible signing meeting between the US and Iran.
According to the announcement, the signing of the MoU is currently scheduled for Friday, June 19 in Bürgenstock in the canton of Nidwalden.
The ministry added that “this location was suggested by Pakistani and Qatari mediators as well as the United States and Iran. Switzerland will act as a mediator in this process and provide the necessary practical and diplomatic conditions for holding this meeting on its territory.”
Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi told a gathering of ambassadors, chargés-de-camp, and heads of foreign missions in Tehran today that the official start of the memorandum of understanding will be on Friday, and on the same day, a new round of negotiations between Iran and the United States to reach a final agreement will begin.
According to American sources, the United States and Iran have previously digitally signed this memorandum of understanding, which is supposed to initiate 60-day negotiations to reach a final agreement.
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Majid Takht-Ravanchi told reporters today that the Iranian and American negotiating teams will be headed by Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf and J.D. Vance (Trump's deputy).
