Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The press office of the Ministry of Interior Affairs issued a press release today (Monday) stating that Sheikh Abdul Rahman Munir, the Deputy Counter-Narcotics Officer of the Ministry, met with Polak Oksiri, the Director of the Office of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, in Kabul and exchanged views on the process of joint cooperation in the fight against drugs and ways to strengthen it.
The UNODC Director-General announced at the meeting that the organization's upcoming global report will reflect Afghanistan's achievements in the fight against drugs in a fair, accurate, and realistic manner.
Sheikh Abdul Rahman Munir also welcomed this approach and emphasized that Afghanistan's activities and successes in preventing the production, trafficking, and transportation of drugs should be honestly reflected in international reports.
Referring to the operations of security forces in various provinces of the country, he mentioned the discovery and prevention of drug trafficking on highways and transit routes as part of recent achievements, and considered combating this phenomenon a human, religious, and shared responsibility for all countries.
The Deputy Minister for Counter-Narcotics of the Ministry of Interior also emphasized Afghanistan's readiness to develop cooperation and coordination with neighboring countries in order to control borders and prevent drug trafficking.
