The International Human Rights Foundation (IHRF) has condemned the Pakistani military regime’s air and artillery attacks on parts of Paktia, Paktika and Kunar provinces, expressing concern over civilian casualties and calling for Islamabad to be held accountable and an independent international investigation.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: In response to the recent air and artillery attacks by the Pakistani military regime on parts of Paktia, Paktika and Kunar provinces, the International Human Rights Foundation (IHRF) has called these attacks worrying and called for Islamabad to provide clear explanations about the legal basis and targeting.
The foundation’s statement said that the attacks have caused heavy damage to civilians, destroyed several residential buildings and caused widespread human casualties.
The organization emphasized that the targeting of residential homes, as well as people involved in rescue and relief operations, raises serious questions about the observance of international humanitarian law principles, including the principles of distinction, proportionality and precaution.
The International Foundation for Human Rights added that deliberate or indiscriminate attacks against civilians and relief workers constitute serious violations of the Geneva Conventions and their Additional Protocols.
The foundation called on the Pakistani military regime to provide a clear explanation as soon as possible about the circumstances, legal basis and criteria for targeting these attacks. It also called on the United Nations and other international human rights organizations to independently investigate and document this incident and support fact-finding missions.
According to published reports, 36 civilians, including women and children, were killed and 163 others were injured in recent air and artillery attacks by the Pakistani military regime on a number of areas in Kunar, Paktia and Paktika provinces.
