Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Maulvi Abdul Salam Hanafi, Deputy Administrative Officer of the Prime Minister's Office of the Islamic Emirate, delivered a speech at the scientific and research conference "Afghanistan and the Region; Opportunities and Challenges" held by the Afghan Academy of Sciences.
Appreciating the holding of such scientific meetings, he considered them important for the progress, stability of the country and the development of regional relations, and said that issues related to Afghanistan, both in the domestic and regional dimensions, should be studied scientifically and researched, and the results should be made available to decision-making centers so that opportunities can be used effectively and appropriate solutions can be presented to solve challenges.
Hanafi continued by listing peace and stability, eliminating tribal lordships, providing a basis for peaceful life, combating drug cultivation, trafficking and use, collecting and treating addicts, implementing infrastructure projects and expanding relations based on mutual respect with neighboring countries as among the most important achievements of the Islamic Emirate.
He described regional cooperation as one of the fundamental factors for the economic growth and development of countries, and stated that with the completion of the Afghan-Trans, CASA-1000, TAPI and TOP projects, Afghanistan can become a connecting link between Central Asia and South Asia.
The Deputy Prime Minister also described Afghanistan's current relations with regional and neighboring countries as desirable and emphasized the need to regulate relations based on mutual respect, non-interference in each other's internal affairs, and avoidance of seeking superiority.
He considered the existence of oil, gas, and other valuable mineral reserves to be among the most important investment capacities of Afghanistan, adding that the principled exploitation of these resources can pave the way for economic development, increased investment, and sustainable growth of the country.
In conclusion, Hanafi called distrust among regional countries one of the most important challenges, saying that continued tension and distrust among some neighboring countries is detrimental to all parties and leads to a waste of human and economic resources, the spread of insecurity, weakening the economy, and increasing unemployment.
