Iran-Qatar maritime trade resumed after five months of hiatus

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: The Islamic Republic of Iran’s commercial attaché in Doha announced that after about five months of hiatus in maritime transport of goods between Iran’s Deir port and Qatar’s Al-Ruwais port, this trade route has been reactivated.

 

Abbas Abdulkhani said that this move was made following continuous follow-ups by the Islamic Republic of Iran’s embassy in Doha and coordination with Qatari government officials, and Al-Ruwais port has once again started accepting Iranian goods.

 

Referring to the importance of this trade route, he added: Al-Ruwais Port is one of the most important gateways for Iranian goods to enter the Qatari market, and its resumption of activity will play an important role in facilitating trade, reducing transportation costs, increasing the speed of goods supply, and growing trade exchanges between the two countries.

 

Abdulkhani stated that through this route, a wide range of Iranian goods are exported, including fresh fruits and vegetables, vegetables, dried fruits, food, aquatic products, eggs and protein products, construction materials, stone, white cement, mineral products, handmade and machine-made carpets, and other goods needed by the Qatari market.

 

He also noted that the reopening of Al-Ruwais Port, in addition to strengthening bilateral trade, will boost economic activities in Deir Port in Bushehr Province, increase the activity of maritime transport companies, and support exporters and supply chain activists.

 

Emphasizing the growing trend of economic relations between Tehran and Doha, Iran's commercial advisor in Doha considered the development of economic, trade, and investment cooperation among the common priorities of the two countries, and expressed hope that with the resumption of this maritime route, private sector cooperation and the volume of trade exchanges between Iran and Qatar will increase further.
