Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): US President Donald Trump announced in a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan that the two sides will discuss various issues, including Iran, military cooperation, and bilateral relations.
Referring to relations between Washington and Ankara, Trump said that relations between the two countries are at their best and added that the issue of F-16 and F-35 fighter jets will also be discussed in negotiations with Erdogan. In response to a question about the possibility of selling F-35 fighter jets to Türkiye, he said: "Why not."
The US President also claimed that if it were not for Erdogan, he might not have attended the NATO summit and criticized the actions of some members of the alliance towards the US.
In contrast, Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that Turkey is ready to take any action it can to help improve Iran-US relations and strengthen world peace.
He also said that he would discuss the developments in Gaza during his meeting with Trump and expressed hope that the NATO summit would lead to positive decisions to maintain peace and stability in the region.
Regarding the issue of the F-35 fighter jets, Erdogan also stated that this case is not a new issue and that Turkey has previously discussed this issue with the US. He expressed optimism about the outcome of the negotiations and said that he hopes that a favorable decision will be made in this regard.
