China and Russia at IMO Council Reject UAE’s Anti-Iran Narrative on the Strait of Hormuz

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: Representatives of China and Russia at the meeting of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Council, opposing the document proposed by the United Arab Emirates on the Strait of Hormuz, assessed the narrative put forward against the Islamic Republic of Iran as unilateral, political, and lacking a balanced approach.

 

The two countries emphasized in their positions that the security of the Strait of Hormuz, as one of the most important strategic waterways in the world, must be ensured through dialogue, tension reduction, and cooperation between regional countries, and that politicization of issues related to maritime security should be avoided.

 

This stance was taken at a time when the UAE, in its proposed document, had made claims about the maritime security situation in the Strait of Hormuz, which was met with opposition from China and Russia in the IMO Council.
