Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: According to a report by the Financial Times newspaper, Saudi banks have blocked or faced long delays in transferring money to bank accounts in the UAE since May.
Several informed sources have told the newspaper that money transfers sent by Saudi companies and individuals to the accounts of companies and citizens residing in Dubai have been either returned or delayed for several days without providing a specific explanation.
A manager at a healthcare company in Dubai, who asked not to be named, said that since mid-May, three payments from a long-standing Saudi client with whom he had worked for years had been blocked and returned by Saudi banks.
“The money is usually held in the bank for about a week and then returned to the sender without any questions being asked of the sender or the recipient,” he added.
