Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: The US Department of Commerce announced that it will reduce export restrictions against the United Arab Emirates and expand the country's access to military equipment, advanced technologies and items related to the space industries.
According to the ministry, this decision was made due to the UAE's support for US national security interests, including cooperation in the so-called "Epic Fury" operation against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
This move comes despite unofficial reports that Abu Dhabi's role in the war against Iran had previously been published.
The Wall Street Journal reported that Emirati forces have carried out dozens of covert airstrikes against Iranian soil since the early days of Operation Epic Fury, and these attacks have continued even after the ceasefire was announced.
According to the new decision, the UAE will be removed from the D:3 and D:4 categories of US export regulations and transferred to A:5. This change will allow Abu Dhabi to have broader access to certain military equipment, satellites, commercial spacecraft and dual-use technologies used in sectors such as oil and gas, water desalination and civilian nuclear power generation.
Washington’s decision has been assessed by observers as a move to strengthen strategic cooperation with the UAE and to appreciate its role in supporting US security policies in the region.
