Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: Jorge Rodriguez, the speaker of the Venezuelan National Assembly, announced today (Monday) that the death toll from two devastating earthquakes in the country that occurred on June 24 has reached 4,490.
According to the Anadolu Agency, 16,740 people were injured in this natural disaster and 6,462 were rescued by rescue forces.
According to official statistics, nearly 19,600 people have been accommodated in temporary camps.
Rodriguez said in a message on social media that 120,794 families have been provided with relief and 108 temporary camps have been set up to accommodate the affected. However, 17,907 people are still without permanent housing.
He added that the recent earthquakes damaged 856 buildings and completely collapsed 190 buildings.
According to the report, relief teams have so far distributed 9,995 tons of food and more than 18.5 million liters of drinking water to the affected people, and 32,401 patients have received medical care.
Relief operations are continuing with the participation of 31,837 operational personnel, 30,535 volunteers and 2,422 international aid workers.
Two earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 on the Richter scale, just 39 seconds apart, struck Venezuela on June 24, causing widespread damage across the country. The event has also sparked a wave of domestic and international humanitarian aid to support the victims.
