Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) – Kabul: The National Standards and Quality Authority says that a shipment of 25,130 tons of corners and gutters that entered the country through Sheikh Abu Nasr Farahi Port was determined to be substandard after technical assessments and specialized tests.
According to the authority, the results of the assessments showed that the shipment did not comply with Afghanistan’s national standards; therefore, it was prevented from entering domestic markets and was returned to the country of origin in accordance with the principles and regulations.
Officials of the National Standards and Quality Administration have emphasized that monitoring the quality of imported goods will continue in order to protect the health, safety and rights of consumers, and no goods that do not comply with the established standards will be allowed to enter the country’s markets.
In recent months, the National Standards and Quality Administration has intensified the process of monitoring imported goods at border crossings and ports in the country.
The agency had previously prevented the entry of dozens of shipments of construction materials, food, petroleum products and other substandard goods and returned them to their countries of origin. According to officials, the implementation of national standards in imports plays an important role in improving the quality of products, protecting consumers and preventing losses resulting from the use of low-quality goods, especially in the construction sector.
