"China is deeply concerned about the resumption of military clashes in the Persian Gulf region," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian told reporters in Beijing.
According to Anadolu Agency, he called on the conflicting parties to maintain calm and restraint, protect the ceasefire achieved, and prevent a return to war, in light of the international community's call for peace and stability.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman also emphasized that the United States and Iran must prevent the escalation of conflicts and increase civilian casualties.
Lin Jian added: “It is the international community’s demand to respect the legitimate rights and interests of the countries bordering the Strait of Hormuz and to resume normal and safe passage of ships through this waterway as soon as possible.”
These remarks came as military clashes between the United States and Iran have intensified once again.
