Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Tehran: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran issued a statement condemning the British government’s action in labeling the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and placing this institution under that country’s national security law.
In this statement, this action was described as “unjustified, irresponsible and contrary to the fundamental principles and rules of international law,” including the principle of sovereign equality of states and the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of countries.
The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is an inseparable part of the official armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran and, along with the army of the Islamic Republic of Iran, is responsible for defending the country’s territorial integrity, national sovereignty and security.
The statement continued that the role of the Revolutionary Guard Corps in protecting Iran's security and territorial integrity, as well as confronting the ISIS terrorist group and helping to maintain peace and security in the region, is clear to everyone.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran also called the British government's action in labeling an official institution belonging to an independent state as "ridiculous, provocative and in violation of international law and the United Nations Charter" and rejected it.
