Afghanistan and Iran Agree to Develop Standardization Cooperation and Improve Product Quality

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The National Standards and Quality Administration issued a press release today (Wednesday, July 15) stating that in continuation of efforts to develop economic and trade relations between Afghanistan and regional countries, Mullah Abdullah Haji Bashir, Director General of the Administration, met and discussed with Alireza Bekdali, Acting Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Afghanistan.

 

In this meeting, which was held in the presence of the Deputy Director of Finance and Administration of the Standards and Quality Administration, the Director of the Administration, the Economic Representative of the Iranian Embassy, ​​and a number of officials from both sides, ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the areas of standardization, product quality, and transfer of technical experiences were discussed.

 

The Director General of the Standards and Quality Department said in the meeting that standardization of exports and imports is one of the important responsibilities of this department and that compliance with the necessary standards by traders from both countries can play a fundamental role in increasing the quality of goods, protecting people's health, and ensuring the interests of consumers.

 

He added that joint cooperation in the field of standards and quality can pave the way for the development of standardized trade and increasing trust between the markets of the two countries.

 

Meanwhile, Alireza Bekdali, the acting head of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, called the relations between Afghanistan and Iran friendly and extensive, and said that the two countries have great potential for developing economic and trade cooperation due to their neighborhood and common ties.

 

The acting head of the Iranian Embassy announced that the country's standards department is ready to cooperate in sectors related to standardization, transferring technical experiences, and developing the capacities of the Afghan Standards and Quality Department.

 

He also invited the Director General of the Standards and Quality Department of the country to make an official visit to Iran and visit the Standards Department and related departments of that country.

 

At the end of the meeting, the two sides emphasized continuing constructive interactions, expanding specialized cooperation, and utilizing existing capacities to strengthen economic and trade relations between Afghanistan and Iran.
