Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The US Embassy in Jordan has issued a security alert today, Saturday, warning of increased tensions in the West Asian region and the possibility of unforeseen developments.
This alert has been issued while some American media outlets have reported the possibility of a new round of US military attacks against Iran. The Wall Street Journal claimed this morning, citing informed sources, that Donald Trump has ordered a new attack on Iran.
According to this report, the possible operation may begin later this week and continue for several days.
The Wall Street Journal claims that the aim of these attacks is to increase military pressure to force Iran to accept Washington's demands and return to negotiations.
The US Embassy in Jordan warned: "Given the increasing tensions in the Middle East, the security situation remains complex and there is a possibility of sudden escalation of tensions."
The embassy also urged American citizens to remain vigilant and be prepared for the possibility of flight cancellations, temporary closures of airspace and disruptions to air travel.
The warning continued by stating that some airlines have postponed the resumption of their flights and others have canceled a number of flight routes.
The US Embassy has urged its citizens to consider leaving the region or be prepared to leave their residences quickly if the situation escalates.
