Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Zelensky, who recently returned from his trip to Washington, had previously asked US President Donald Trump for an emergency “winter package” of 300 Patriot missiles in an interview with the Axios news website.
Zelensky has warned that if the problem is not resolved before winter, Russian missile strikes could destroy Ukraine’s power plants and leave millions of people without heating in the cold of winter, which would lead to a humanitarian catastrophe. According to him, Russia fires between 30 and 40 ballistic missiles in each major attack, and carries out such attacks three to five times a month.
During his visit to Washington, Zelensky discussed with Trump the possibility of granting Ukraine a license to produce Patriot missiles. Although Trump had promised to grant this license at a NATO summit in Turkey, he recently backed down from this position, saying that the United States should be “very cautious” about sharing advanced missile technologies.
On the other hand, the United States itself is facing a shortage of interceptor missiles, including Patriot missiles. It is said that two-thirds of the US stockpile of these missiles was used in the wake of the aggression against Iran.
