Afghan Voice Agency (AVA)-International Service: Sheikh Naeem Qassem, Secretary General of Hezbollah in Lebanon, described the Ashura movement as an eternal school for helping the truth and fulfilling the divine duty at the Arbaeen commemoration ceremony of Imam Hussein (AS) in the city of Baalbek, and said that Ashura is not just a historical event, but rather the continuation of the path of honor, dignity, and resistance against oppression.
Referring to the position of Imam Hussein (AS) and his loyal companions, including Hazrat Abu al-Fadl al-Abbas (AS), Hazrat Ali Akbar (AS) and Habib bin Mazahir, he considered the role of Hazrat Zaynab (AS) to be decisive in keeping the message of Ashura alive and continuing the mission of Islam, and emphasized that all those present in Karbala, with their sacrifice and dedication, became a model for fulfilling religious duties and defending the truth.
Stating that the Arbaeen ceremony is a symbol of renewing the oath of allegiance to Imam Hussein (AS) and the Ahl al-Bayt (AS), the Secretary General of Hezbollah stated: The processions and mourning rituals are a manifestation of love, loyalty, guardianship and a renewal of the covenant with the Hussaini school. He added that crying for Imam Hussein (AS) is not simply a sorrow for the past, but a symbol of determination to build a future based on honor, justice and human dignity.
Referring to Imam Hussein’s (AS) statement that “I do not see death as anything but happiness and life with the oppressors as nothing but suffering,” Sheikh Qassem emphasized that these teachings continue to inspire the free people of the world in confronting oppression and arrogance. He also stated that the Karbala movement kept Islam alive and this path will continue until the advent of the Imam of the Age (AS).
He continued by praising the millions of Arbaeen pilgrims in the holy Karbala, considering their large presence as a sign of true loyalty to Imam Hussein (AS), and also thanked the people of Beqaa, Baalbek, and Hermel for participating in the Arbaeen ceremonies and renewing their allegiance to the ideals of Hussein.
Emphasizing the continuation of resistance and the need for Israel’s complete withdrawal
In another part of his speech, referring to developments in the region, the Hezbollah Secretary General claimed that Lebanon, Iran, Gaza, and Yemen have been targeted by “joint aggression by the US and the Zionist regime.” An aggression that, according to him, was carried out with the aim of weakening the axis of resistance and establishing the dominance of the Zionist regime.
Referring to the September 2024 war against Lebanon, he said that the main goal of these attacks was to eliminate the resistance by assassinating its commanders and destroying its capabilities, but this goal was not achieved. Sheikh Qassem also claimed that the cessation of this war was achieved following an understanding between Iran and the United States and with Iran's condition that it stop aggression against Lebanon.
Criticizing the process of direct negotiations with the Zionist regime, the Secretary General of Hezbollah considered these negotiations to be without any achievements for Lebanon and said: Experience has shown that these negotiations have only led to concessions for Lebanon and have not achieved anything for this country.
Emphasizing that Hezbollah still considers the path of implementing the ceasefire agreement as the way to achieve the withdrawal of Israeli forces, he stated: The only option before the enemy is a complete withdrawal from Lebanon, and he will not be able to establish his presence on Lebanese soil, neither today nor in the future.
