According to Fars, he said; “The current focus of the mediators is on finding a short-term solution” that can bring Washington and Tehran back to the negotiating table, but there are currently no plans to hold direct talks.
These statements come as informed sources have reported progress in talks between Iran and Oman on a temporary plan to manage the Strait of Hormuz.
According to the plan, Tehran will be given full control of incoming ship traffic, and the route for ships leaving the Strait of Hormuz will pass through a route between Iran and Oman.
On the other hand, a source familiar with the negotiations between Iran and Oman has claimed that Iran wants to collect 7 percent of the tolls for commercial ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, while the United States is trying to reduce this figure to 5 percent. The source also added that Russian and Chinese ships will be exempt from paying these tolls.
Al-Hadath Network has also reported, citing a high-ranking source, that a joint statement by Iran and Oman on the Strait of Hormuz is likely to be issued in the coming hours.
