IED explosion in Ghazni; Two children killed, four injured

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The first explosion occurred in the village of Noghi in the fourth security zone of Ghazni city, the police chief said. Two children were killed and three others injured in the incident. A second explosion in Mir Hassan village of Qara Bagh district also wounded a girl. Officials said two children were killed and four others injured in the two incidents.

 

Afghanistan is one of the most contaminated countries in the world with UXO, and dozens of civilians, especially children, are killed every year.

 

The United Nations has repeatedly warned of the dangers of landmines and unexploded ordnance in Afghanistan and called for increased efforts to clear them and raise awareness among local communities. However, lack of funds and resources has slowed the clean-up process.
