Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Tehran: In a decree issued on Sunday, the Leader of the Revolution, while appreciating the services of Mohammad Baqer Zolghadr, former secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, appointed Mohsen Rezaei, who is one of the pioneers of the era of sacred defense of this country, as his representative on the Supreme National Security Council.
At the same time, Iranian President Masoud Peshkian also issued a separate decree introducing Rezaei as the secretary of the Supreme National Security Council.
Mohsen Rezaei, 71, who is known as the commander-in-chief of the Revolutionary Guards during the eight-year imposed war between Iran and Iraq, has a long record in the military, political and economic fields. He also has a history of serving as the secretary of the Expediency Discernment Council and the economic deputy to the Iranian president. His appointment in the current sensitive situation and Iran’s military conflicts with the United States, indicates the key role of this council in the country’s strategic decision-making.
