Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs meets with Turkmenistan
Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, met with Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, National Leader of Turkmenistan, at the border of the two countries in Herat province. During the meeting, the latest developments in the TAPI gas transmission project (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India) and joint economic activities of the two countries were discussed and exchanged views.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Herat: In this meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs called for a bilateral agreement on gas prices and emphasized that the price determination formula should be adjusted in a way that prevents the effects of drastic changes in European markets.

He also called on Turkmenistan to cooperate in the construction of a gas distribution and consumption network in Herat, the establishment of a joint commission to resolve the remaining issues of the TAPI project, and increase job opportunities in this project.

Berdimuhamedov also announced in this meeting that Turkmenistan is ready to cooperate in the construction of a gas distribution network in Herat and the start of practical work on the TAPI project, in addition to extending the TAPI pipeline.

He also assured of the creation of transit and trade facilities in the Turkmenbashi port, cooperation in activating the Lapis Lazuli route, and the timely completion of electricity and railway projects in Afghanistan.

It is worth noting that the TAPI project is one of the most important economic projects in the region that can play an important role in providing energy and economic development in Afghanistan and neighboring countries.
