It is worth noting that on February 21, 2022 (2nd of Hut 1400), Russian President Vladimir Putin recognized the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics in the Donbass region, criticizing the West's indifference to Moscow's security concerns.

Three days later, on Thursday, February 24 (5 Hut 1400), Russian President Vladimir Putin launched a military operation he called a "special operation" against Ukraine, turning the tense Moscow-Kiev relations into a military confrontation.

In response to this Russian action, the United States and Western countries have already imposed extensive sanctions on Moscow and sent billions of dollars in weapons and military equipment to Kiev.
