Serdar Seyed Mohammad Bagherzadeh, Commander of the Missing Persons Search Committee of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, announced in an interview on Saturday (August 14) that three Iranian pilots were captured alive by Qatari forces during the downing of their Sukhoi-24 fighter jets in the Hoot attacks. Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Tehran: Sardar Bagherzadeh emphasized that the Qatari government has not yet allowed these individuals to meet, interview or contact their families and the officials following up on their case, and their health status is unknown.
Referring to the Third Geneva Convention, he called on the International Committee of the Red Cross to meet with these pilots as soon as possible, investigate their health status, and facilitate their release.
It is worth noting that these three pilots went missing during Operation "True Promise 3" in early March 2026, which followed US airstrikes on Iranian military facilities. So far, the Qatari government has not responded to this issue.
