Sheikh Khatib warns about the explosion of Lebanese anger; the government should stop the mistake of negotiating with the enemy

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: Sheikh Ali Khatib, deputy chairman of the Supreme Islamic Council of Lebanon, issued a statement in response to the continued barbaric crimes of the Zionists against the people of Lebanon, especially the crimes that were committed yesterday and were accompanied by the martyrdom and injury of at least 30 civilians of this country in the south, and called for the suspension of direct negotiations between the country's government and the Zionists.

 

Sheikh Ali Khatib emphasized that the continuation of the Zionist aggression and crimes requires Lebanon to take a decisive and practical step to review the political path and move towards a national dialogue to confront the next stage.

 

He added: "The Zionist regime's brutal aggression against Lebanon is the predictable result of the negligence and free concessions that the government offered to this regime, which were of no use, and proves the failure of direct negotiations with the Zionists, which we had rejected from the beginning."

 

The Deputy Speaker of the Supreme Council of the Shiites of Lebanon noted that merely issuing statements of condemnation against these brutal crimes of the enemy is not enough, and what we need today is a new approach based on the immediate cessation of the government's negotiations with the enemy and moving towards a comprehensive national dialogue to adopt a new perspective to confront the next stage.

 

Sheikh Ali Al-Khatib said that the Zionist regime is seeking to intensify its attacks against Lebanon on the eve of its elections. The martyrs we presented yesterday in the south represent the pure sacrifices of the Lebanese nation, and the crimes that the Zionist enemy is committing against our people require a broad Arab and international campaign to stop the aggression against Lebanon.

 

He continued by pointing out that the US government must exert maximum pressure to stop the Zionist regime's barbarity against Lebanon, warning that the Lebanese people's anger against the current reality has reached its peak and our people are no longer able to bear any more pain and suffering.

 

The Deputy Speaker of the Supreme Council of the Shiites of Lebanon emphasized that the continuation of the current situation could lead to an explosion of this popular anger in Lebanon and no one will be able to contain it, because the people's patience has run out after enduring all the hardships in their bet on the stability they were promised.

 

This stance of Sheikh Ali Al-Khatib, as well as many other political and national forces in Lebanon, comes at a time when, despite the promises of the country's government to withdraw and stop the Zionist aggression through direct negotiations and agreements with the occupying regime, the regime, despite receiving many free concessions from the Nawaf Salam government, has not only failed to fulfill any of its commitments, but is also significantly expanding its occupation and aggression against Lebanese civilians, and the crime committed yesterday is considered the most obvious example in this regard.
