Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has expressed its condolences to the Republic of Indonesia and the people of Indonesia following the strong earthquake that struck the island of Flores and its surrounding areas.
Abdul Qahar Balkhi, spokesman for the Afghan Foreign Ministry, expressed his deep condolences to the victims and wished the injured a speedy recovery and the families of the victims patience.
A 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck the island of Flores on Saturday near the northern coast of the island.
According to the latest reports, at least 53 people were killed and more than 130 injured, and about 5,000 people were forced to leave their homes or be evacuated to safety.
The quake also collapsed more than 150 buildings and damaged hundreds of homes, schools, medical centers and government buildings in the affected areas.
