Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): According to a Reuters/Ipsos poll that ended on Monday, Donald Trump's approval rating has fallen to its lowest point of his presidency, with an overwhelming majority of Americans concerned that the US war with Iran will continue for a long time.
In the four-day survey, only 33 percent of respondents approved of Trump's performance in the White House, while 64 percent disapproved.
Trump's approval rating, which was 35 percent in the survey earlier this month, has now reached its lowest point of his current presidency, matching the lowest record of his previous term in December 2017.
Trump returned to the White House in 2025 with nearly half of Americans approving of his presidency, but his popularity has taken a hit this year after he ordered a strike on Iran alongside Israel.
The war with Iran has crippled a fifth of global oil trade and sent gasoline prices soaring, weighing on American households as well as Trump’s Republican allies defending their fragile majorities in Congress in November’s midterm elections.
Trump, who campaigned on promises to control inflation and avoid long wars, initially promised that the conflict with Iran would last no more than a few weeks, but Iran has resisted, and oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz remain largely blocked, according to the report.
About 80 percent of Americans, including 87 percent of Democrats and 71 percent of Republicans, think the U.S. conflict with Iran “will last a long time.”
Only 16 percent said the conflict was likely to end within weeks.

Concerns about the war and oil prices have made Republicans nervous about their hopes of holding onto their fragile House majority in the Nov. 3 election, and Democrats increasingly see the Senate within their grasp, according to the report.

The latest poll found that 38 percent of voters believe Democrats will handle the economy better, while 35 percent prefer the Republican approach.
