Pakistan's Supreme Court orders Imran Khan to be transferred to hospital

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: According to the order, Khan, 73, who has been in prison since August 2023, must be transferred to the Shifa International Hospital within 48 hours and remain under the care of doctors until September 16.

 

Imran Khan's lawyers had previously warned about the deterioration of his health, especially the significant decrease in vision in his right eye. A spokesman for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party welcomed the decision and said that this action should have been taken earlier so that Imran Khan's health condition would not have deteriorated to this extent.

 

Imran Khan, who has been convicted in several cases, has considered the cases to be political and denied the charges against him. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party and his family have long demanded that he be transferred to a hospital for treatment.

 

The verdict comes at a time when polls show that about 70 percent of Pakistanis want Imran Khan to be released. He has been in prison since August 5, 2023, and has appeared in various courts more than 100 times since then, and his transfer has been denied many times due to his deteriorating health.
