According to news sources, the Supreme Court of Pakistan on Tuesday (27th of Asad), accepting the request of the Tehreek-e-Insaf Party, ordered that 73-year-old Imran Khan, who has been in prison since August 2023, be transferred to Shifa International Hospital within 48 hours and remain under the care of doctors until September 16. Khan's lawyers had previously warned about the deterioration of his health condition, especially the significant decrease in vision in his right eye.
The move by the Pakistani government, according to Reuters analysts, could disappoint Khan's party and family, who have been demanding that he be given access to medical care and visitation rights, and stoke public discontent over the treatment of the politician and former cricket star. Khan, who has been convicted in several cases, has dismissed the charges as politically motivated.
