London in Washington's Row; Britain Joins US Anti-Iran Sanctions

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: According to Middle East Eye, while most independent countries have condemned the aggressive war of the US and the Zionist regime against Iran and the unilateral US sanctions, the British government has once again declared its dependence on Washington and adherence to US anti-Iran policies.

 

In a hypocritical speech, British Finance Minister John Haley claimed that the country supports US efforts to achieve a diplomatic solution to Iran and welcomes steps to increase pressure, including the recently announced broad sanctions against Iran.

 

Haley issued a statement announcing that the British government has imposed more than 240 sanctions on Iran since the Labor Party came to power and will continue to work with the United States and other partners to apply economic pressure on Iran.

 

Repeating anti-Iranian claims, she claimed that London is determined to prevent Iran from using the global economy and the British financial system to advance its nuclear program and what she called “destabilizing activities.”

 

Haley also claimed that, regardless of the US and Israeli aggression on Iranian territory, she calls on Iran to stop its destabilizing activities throughout the region, including in the Strait of Hormuz!

 

She added that Britain will continue to work with its partners to protect its interests, take the necessary steps to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and confront what she called “Iran’s dangerous activities.”

 

This comes while China's Foreign Ministry, in response to US threats to impose further sanctions on Iran, announced that its cooperation with Tehran is based on international law.
