Secret documents deliberately hidden about US withdrawal from Afghanistan discovered

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: “Sean Parnell”, Pentagon spokesman and head of the special mission to review the US withdrawal from Afghanistan, announced in a video message on Wednesday local time the discovery of “classified documents of very high relevance”. Criticizing previous accounts, he stated: “I am not going to give you a convenient version of the truth, nor will I give you a rushed version. We will not accept incomplete answers or answers that are given simply for the sake of convenience. The American people and the families who sacrificed everything deserve a full picture of how and why these decisions were made, and we will provide them with that full picture.”

 

These statements come as US Defense Secretary Pete Hegsett in May 2025 ordered Parnell to form a special commission to review the US military withdrawal from Afghanistan and to review previous investigations into the Abbeygate attack.

 

The August 26, 2021 (Sunbul 1400) suicide attack was carried out by an ISIS-K suicide bomber at the Abbeygate entrance outside Kabul’s Hamid Karzai International Airport. At the time, US forces were carrying out evacuation operations after the Islamic Emirate took control of Afghanistan. The explosion killed 13 US soldiers, including 11 Marines, one Army soldier and one US Navy sailor, and about 170 Afghan civilians.
