Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Maulavi Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesman for the Islamic Emirate, told an Indian media outlet that Kabul wants to change its wartime policies and establish good and constructive relations with the United States.
Asked about relations between Kabul and Washington, Mujahid said Afghanistan wanted normal, constructive and mutually beneficial relations with the United States and there was no obstacle to expanding diplomatic relations with Western countries.
He added that the Islamic Emirate wants the US embassy in Kabul to resume operations and the Afghan diplomatic mission in Washington to resume formal and normal relations between the two countries.
The spokesman of the Islamic Emirate also stressed the need to change the attitude of Western countries and countries that were involved in the war in Afghanistan in the past, saying that the policies of the war period should change in a positive direction.
The statement comes as relations between Kabul and Washington continue to face political and diplomatic challenges after the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan in 2021. The Islamic Emirate has repeatedly called for increased engagement with the United States and the return of its diplomatic presence in Afghanistan in recent months.
