The Islamic Emirate’s public spokesman says that the ban on teaching law and political science majors only applies to a number of private universities that do not have the necessary capacity and ability in these fields; according to him, there is not only no prohibition in this regard in public universities, but these fields are also given serious support. Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The “Government in the Mirror of the Press” program was held on Sunday, at the government media center in the presence of spokespeople for educational institutions, the head of the center, and the public spokesman for the Islamic Emirate.
In this program, Maulvi Zabihullah Mujahid, the public spokesman of the Islamic Emirate, explained the most important achievements of the Ministry of Higher Education last year.
According to him, last year, a total of 212,179 students were engaged in higher education in public and private universities of the country, of which 126,952 were studying in public universities and 85,227 in private universities.
Also, this year, a total of 110,064 educational certificates were issued to students, including 56,064 certificates for students in public universities and 54,000 certificates for students in private universities.
The Ministry of Higher Education also announced the holding of 158 educational programs for students and the introduction of 1,000 professors to short-term and long-term educational programs.
According to him, 290 professors have been introduced to master's programs and 94 others to doctoral programs within the country, and 137 professors who completed their master's and doctoral courses abroad have returned to Afghanistan and been assigned to their duties in 1447 AH.
Meanwhile, 60 new professors have been appointed to government universities and religious societies, and four doctoral programs have been established in government universities, five master's programs in government universities, and three master's programs in private universities.
Based on this information from Mr. Mujahid, for the first time, a medical faculty has been established in the government universities of Badakhshan and Ghazni, a traditional medicine faculty in Kabul University of Medical Sciences, in Khost Province, a private Al-Nur University, and in Kunar Province, the Abdullah bin Abbas (RA) religious society.
The government spokesman said that last year, 22 different projects were implemented to develop and create the necessary facilities in state universities and religious communities, and work is underway on a number of other projects.
Also, 633 new positions have been created in the fields of technology, modern sciences, engineering, computer science, artificial intelligence, and other fields.
In the graduate recruitment sector, a list of 1,555 distinguished university graduates has been prepared for recruitment in departments and sent to the Office of the Leader of the Islamic Emirate.
Support for inventors and the fields of law and political science
In response to a question from reporters about supporting inventors, Mawlavi Zabihullah Mujahid, the general spokesman for the Islamic Emirate, said that the government is trying to provide the ground for their growth through encouragement and cooperation.
Regarding the restrictions on teaching law and political science, he also said that this restriction was imposed only on those private universities that performed poorly in these fields and did not have the necessary capabilities.
Mujahid emphasized that there is no prohibition on teaching these subjects in state universities, and that law and political science subjects are given serious support in these universities.
