Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan held the first meeting of the Political and Defense Strategic Committee related to the Mecca Agreement in Istanbul and at the end of the meeting, they issued a joint statement emphasizing the expansion of political and defense cooperation between the three countries.
The statement states:
-Today's meeting is an important step in advancing the Mecca Agreement from its signature to its implementation.
-Agreement on the next steps to institutionalize cooperation
- A secretariat will be established in Saudi Arabia to support the activities of the three countries.
-Pakistan will chair the secretariat for the first three-year term.
-We are determined to implement the agreement to achieve peace and stability in the region.
-The three countries will continue their efforts to reduce tensions and exercise restraint and contribute to regional peace and stability.
-The three countries emphasize the defensive nature of the partnership and the principle of mutual respect for the sovereignty of countries.
-Agree to enhance the defense capabilities of the three countries. Cooperation will include strengthening defense industries, developing production and technology.
-The three countries will strengthen deterrence and collective defense among themselves and agree to contribute to peace in the region and beyond.
