Electric Motorcycle Production Begins with $5 Million Investment in Herat

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Herat: Naqibullah Haqmal, head of the Skeleton Steel Factory in Herat, says that the factory, which previously produced and assembled regular motorcycles, has now started producing electric motorcycles using modern systems.

 

According to Mr. Haqmal, turning to the production of electric motorcycles is part of the factory's efforts to use new technologies and respond to the needs of the market.

 

He added that currently, about 400 people work in various parts of motorcycle production and assembly in this complex, and the number of employees is expected to increase as activities expand.

 

Meanwhile, officials from the Herat Department of Industry and Commerce say that industrialists in the province are trying to develop domestic production using new technologies and introduce higher-quality products to the market.

 

Maulvi Bashir Mohammad Sirat, the head of Herat’s Department of Industry and Commerce, considers the use of electric vehicles effective in reducing fossil fuel consumption, reducing transportation costs, and improving the environment.

 

He says that expanding the use of electric vehicles can also play a role in reducing air pollution.

 

On the other hand, Nasser Amin, head of the Herat Chamber of Industries and Mines, says that currently about 40 factories are active in the motorcycle production and assembly sector in the province, of which two factories are working in the field of production and assembly of electric motorcycles.

 

Mr. Amin described the production of electric motorcycles as a step forward in the motorcycle industry and said that the expansion of this type of vehicle can provide the basis for the use of new technologies and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.

 

A number of Herat citizens also welcomed the production of electric motorcycles, saying that given the increase in fuel prices, the use of these vehicles can reduce their transportation costs.

 

The investment of five million dollars in the electric motorcycle production sector in Herat, in addition to creating a basis for the development of domestic production, can help expand the use of electric vehicles in the province.

 

Rising fuel costs and increased attention to reducing air pollution are among the factors that have increased attention to electric vehicles in recent years.

 

However, the development of this industry requires the expansion of the necessary infrastructure, proper access to technical services, and the provision of a consumer market for domestic products.
