Sudden change in the top command of the Jordanian army after the recent Iranian attack; the chief of the joint staff of the army was dismissed

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: According to the decree, General Majdi Muhammad Hamad Al-Harassis was appointed as the new chief of the joint staff of the Jordanian Armed Forces, succeeding General Yousef Ahmed Al-Hunaiti, who retired after being promoted to the rank of major general.

 

According to a statement by the official Jordanian news agency (Petra), the appointment, which is effective from September 2, 2026 (11 Sunbul 1405), coincides with the promotion of Al-Harassis' military rank from colonel to general.

 

Yousef Al-Hunaiti, who previously headed the joint staff, also retired from command with the rank of lieutenant general.
