Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): This senior Iranian official, whose name was not disclosed, in an interview with Al-Mayadeen News Network, called on Seoul not to give in to Washington's pressure to cooperate in illegal US military operations and not to sacrifice its interests and international reputation for America's aggressive and destabilizing policies.
The Iranian official, recalling that “the main root of insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz is the aggression of the United States and the Zionist regime,” stressed that South Korea should not ignore this fact and that as long as the illegal American interventions, hostile blockade, and economic war against Iran continue, “there will be no possibility of establishing stability and security in the region.”
This warning comes as South Korea has begun initial preparations to dispatch a support ship and military forces to the Strait of Hormuz, following US President Donald Trump’s increased pressure on its Asian allies to participate in the war with Iran.
According to reports, Seoul is considering various options, including sending a combat support ship and maritime patrol aircraft, and about 150 South Korean personnel have been earmarked for this possible mission. However, the South Korean presidential office announced yesterday (Friday) that a final decision has not yet been made in this regard and that various options, including military action, are being considered regarding the Strait of Hormuz.
