Financial Times: Aramco’s Jazan refinery out of commission for weeks in fresh Yemeni attacks
Aramco’s oil facility in the southwestern Saudi city of Jazan was targeted in a new attack on Monday (September 7), the Financial Times reported. The attack, which comes a month after a similar attack, is the latest in a series of attacks by Yemeni armed forces that have left the 400,000-barrel-per-day refinery out of commission for weeks, according to sources.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: According to the Financial Times, the exact extent of the damage is still being assessed and no further information has been released about the origin of the attack. However, a source familiar with the matter told the newspaper that the attack was similar in scale to an attack by Yemen’s Ansarullah movement last month (August) using drones. The attacks have also “stopped the production of refined products at Jazan for weeks,” a source told the Financial Times.

The Jazan refinery has not been fully operational since late July, when previous attacks damaged its storage tanks and power plant, and diesel shipments from the facility reached zero in August. The city of Jazan, which is located near the Saudi border with Yemen, has been the target of several Ansarullah attacks in the past. Aramco CEO Amin Nasser said last month that previous attacks had caused some disruptions to production.

Yemen’s Ansarullah said the attacks were in response to Saudi drones entering Yemeni airspace. This comes after the Yemeni army launched a “siege-against-siege” strategy against Saudi Arabia.
