Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) – Science and Technology Service: Apple revealed its new generation of smartphones at its annual event held at Apple Park. This event marked the first press conference for John Ternus, Apple's new CEO, since assuming the role.
The iPhone 18 Pro launches with a 6.3-inch display, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max features a 6.9-inch screen. Both models will be available in four colors: Black, Silver, Glacial (light blue), and Deep Red.
At the heart of these phones lies the A20 Pro chip, manufactured using TSMC’s 2nm technology—marking the mobile industry's first 2nm chip. Featuring a 6-core processor, this chip boosts processing core performance by 20% and graphics processing by 40% compared to the previous generation. It also marks the first use of WMCM (Wafer-Level Multi-Chip Module) packaging technology. Additionally, the Dynamic Island (the screen cutout) has been reduced in size by 35%, providing more space for content display.
Regarding the camera, both models are equipped with a 48-megapixel main camera featuring a variable aperture; a six-blade mechanical system offers creative control over image capture. The Pro Max model specifically utilizes a physical variable aperture mechanism. Battery life has also seen a significant boost, with the iPhone 18 Pro supporting up to 36 hours of video playback and the iPhone 18 Pro Max supporting up to 45 hours. The base price for the iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199, and the iPhone 18 Pro Max at $1,299—an increase of $100 over the previous generation. Pre-orders for these phones begin on September 12, with official sales starting on September 18, 2026.
